Creation of the Summer Concert Series 2009

One of the best decisions our group made was to start the summer concert series in Horicon.

Music at the Market (as it is now called) began with just a few bands performing on Wednesday nights at Kiwanis Park - right across from the community garden.

How excited we were to first begin this series. We hoped to accomplish many things:
first - to provide a free event for families in our city
second - to improve the culture of our city with the introduction to different bands
third - give residents a chance to interact together

The first year there was three concerts, the second there was five, and it just kept growing.

A newly constructed shelter has provided the stage.

As you can see, attendance in the beginning was low, but as the summers progressed on average over 100 to 150 people would attend.

Wednesday night became a perfect time to pair up the concerts with the Horicon Farmers Market.

Residents could shop for locally grown produce or local crafts, and listen to music. What could be better? Maybe food? That would be added the following year.

This series has grown to be the most popular events we host. Glad we started it!
